How Member Feedback Is Shaping the Military App

At the Military App, we believe community isn’t built by algorithms or corporate strategy - it’s built by listening. That’s why every development we make is grounded in one simple principle: serve our members. Whether it’s enabling veterans to organise local meet ups, fundraising for regimental causes, or simply making the experience smoother and more human, our platform evolves because our members shape it.

Over the past few months, that commitment has resulted in a series of powerful updates designed to deepen connection, boost participation, and make the Military App more useful in the day-to-day lives of our members.

Fundraising Campaigns - Connecting Purpose to Action

Our most significant recent feature, launched in March, allows members to create fundraising campaigns for their chosen regimental or military charity - directly inside the App. It's already proving a powerful way for members to support the causes that matter most to them, while giving others in the community a meaningful way to engage. This feature turns support into action, and purpose into participation - a fundraising platform dedicated to the military community, but accessible to all.

Events and In-Person Engagement -Built In

We’ve made it even easier for members to organise and attend events with:

  • Informal group event creation (Oct 2024): Any group member can now create events, helping smaller or local gatherings to form naturally.
  • Team Lists for Sports Groups (Oct 2024): Making coordination and organisation simpler for teams across the Forces.
  • Improved Event Sharing & Sorting (Nov 2024): Better visibility means better attendance.

These tools are already driving more in-person engagement across the platform. And that’s no coincidence: face-to-face connection is at the heart of what we believe supports better mental health and wellbeing. The platform is the catalyst, but it’s our members who bring the community to life.

Verified Members, Trusted Spaces

Our newest update (June 2025) includes Verified Member Status - strengthening the trust and integrity of our regimental spaces by helping distinguish authentic accounts from the rest. Alongside a newly launched Community Manager role, we’re investing in safe, structured, and human-led moderation to support our growing user base.

Smarter Communication Tools

From linked websites embedded in group Pinboards (Oct 2024) to improved article navigation and clickable chat links (Nov 2024), we’ve made the content you care about easier to access, read, and share.

Walk+Talk: Still Going Strong

The Walk+Talk programme continues to flourish across the UK, offering a low-friction way for people to meet, talk, and get moving. These regular meet ups - run by members, for members - are a real-world example of what the platform was built to enable: small, meaningful interactions that lead to stronger, more connected lives. What’s Next?

More improvements, more listening. We’re already working on the next wave of features driven by community feedback, including improvements to group discovery, member recognition, and more ways to share your stories.
